2020 Annual Conference

We hope you’ll join us in March 10-13, 2020 as we celebrate 25 Years of NACNS!

2020 Annual Conference Status

Dear NACNS Annual Conference Attendees,

As you know the NACNS Board has been closely monitoring the situation with the COVID-19 virus. This evening, Indiana Governor Eric Holcomb banned non-essential gatherings of more than 250 people. Given this, we are cancelling our programming for tomorrow, March 13. We apologize for the inconvenience and appreciate your understanding during this ever-changing situation.

Despite challenging circumstances, our CNS family pulled together to make this event a success. . Volunteers filled-in for what would have been cancelled sessions, attendees exhibited patience and understanding through it all, and our resilient conference planning committee made sure everything ran like clockwork. The strength of character required to be a CNS was clearly evident this week.

Thank you everyone for being here. Safe travels home. Let’s meet in New Orleans next year to celebrate the resurgence of the CNS!

The NACNS Board of Directors

Due to the rapidly evolving impact, both domestically and globally, of the COVID-19 situation, we want to update you on our preparations and plans for the 2020 Annual Conference. We plan to move forward with this week’s event in Indianapolis for the following reasons:

    • We remain in close communication with the Indianapolis Marriott Downtown Hotel. They are taking appropriate protective steps and have increased onsite precautionary measures, including increasing the frequency of cleaning and disinfecting commonly touched objects such as door handles, posting informational signage, and maintaining communication with local health agencies.
    • While many institutions have chosen to restrict or ban travel, impacting some of our registrants, thus far it is not the majority.
    • The 2020 Annual Conference is an important cornerstone of our organization and community and has a significant number of existing contractual obligations in support of this event.

The health and safety of our attendees is of utmost priority. We suggest regularly visiting the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) and World Health Organization websites, which are updated daily with the latest information about the virus, including recommendations regarding travel and safety precautions.

Once on-site in Indianapolis, meeting attendees should follow recommendations associated with flu season and from the CDC and WHO in response to coronavirus: wash hands often, cough into your elbow, sneeze into a tissue, and avoid contact with those who may already be sick. Be sure to use the hand sanitizing stations that the Marriott has placed near all public restrooms and meeting spaces. Please remember, it is not impolite to abstain from shaking hands during flu season. If you find you are not feeling well, at home or on travel, we recommend that you consult the CDC website and act accordingly.

As an organization dedicated to the clinical nurse specialist and the healthcare community, we recognize our healthcare community professionals who are hard at work at this time—our thoughts go out to all affected by the novel coronavirus.

We are looking forward to a very positive and informative event this week. Your patience, persistence, and understanding during this time is much very much appreciated by all of us at NACNS. If you have questions, please email info@nacns.org
