Retrieving, synthesizing and interpreting evidence to inform clinical decision-making is a critical yet often time-consuming task for healthcare professionals. With the rapid growth of medical literature, artificial intelligence (AI) offers innovative tools that can streamline and enhance each step of the evidence-based practice (EBP) process. Despite their potential, many clinicians and researchers remain unfamiliar with how to effectively incorporate AI into their workflows. This webinar introduces the fundamentals of using AI to support EBP, highlighting the benefits and common challenges. Participants will gain insight into a few emerging AI technologies and learn best practices for responsible and ethical implementation. Whether you’re just beginning to explore AI or seeking to enhance your current EBP strategies, this session will provide guidance for integrating AI in meaningful, evidence-informed ways.
Speakers:
Susan Bell, DNP, MS, CNRN, APRN-CNP, EBP-C
Susan earned her nursing degrees from The Ohio State University. She has held clinical, academic, research and leadership roles at The Ohio State University Wexner Medical Center, Ohio State’s College of Nursing, Candel Therapeutics and Summa Health. Currently, she serves as program director at the Helene Fuld Health Trust National Institute for Evidence-based Practice in Nursing and Healthcare. Her work has focused on evidence-based practice, neuroscience nursing advanced practice and mentorship. In 2025, she received the Distinguished Alumna Award from The Ohio State University College of Nursing.
Andrew Frueh, MFA
Andrew is an innovation specialist with a background in software engineering, instructional design, and new media. He brings a multidisciplinary approach to educational technology, focusing on AI, extended reality (XR), and hands-on learning tools. At The Ohio State University College of Nursing, he supports the integration of emerging technologies into evidence-based practice through project facilitation, collaboration and custom development.

- Describe challenges, ethical concerns and practical considerations for responsible AI use in healthcare.

- All participants, regardless of discipline, are required to log attendance using the link that will be provided at the end of the presentation. To receive a nursing CE certificate, participants must also complete the full evaluation.
CE certificates will only be issued to those who meet both requirements.
