Fuld Focus Webinar Series | De-Implementing Alarms for Fall Prevention: National Multi-Site Randomized Controlled Trial
This series offers free monthly learning opportunities focused on evidence-based practice and implementation science. Each session highlights practical strategies, emerging evidence, and real-world applications to strengthen evidence-based practice, improve implementation, and support sustainable practice change across healthcare settings. Live attendees may earn nursing continuing education (CE) credit.
This webinar series occurs on the last Thursday of each month from noon to 1 p.m. ET
De-Implementing Alarms for Fall Prevention: National Multi-Site Randomized Controlled Trial
August 27 | Noon to 1 p.m. ET
1.25 CE Hours
Low-value healthcare practices often persist in clinical settings despite limited evidence of benefit and potential for harm. This webinar will introduce de-implementation as a structured, evidence-based approach to reducing or stopping ineffective, harmful or non-cost-effective practices while preserving high-value care.
Using fall prevention alarms as the clinical exemplar, the session will examine why bed and chair alarms remain common in hospitals despite limited evidence that they reduce falls or fall-related injuries and known harms, including alarm fatigue, sleep disturbance, agitation and mobility restriction. We will use the national Alarm with Care Study to demonstrate how de-implementation research can identify optimal approaches for reducing low-value care and promote evidence-based fall prevention practices.
