CNS Week 2024

The 15th Annual CNS Week is taking place September 1-7, 2024. This year’s theme aligns with the NACNS 2025 Annual Conference theme: “Innovate.” Are you ready to celebrate? Download our celebration toolkit here!
What is CNS Week?
Clinical Nurse Specialist Recognition Week, celebrated annually from September 1–7, is a time when hospitals and healthcare systems nationwide honor the nearly 90,000 clinical nurse specialists (CNSs) and their crucial contributions to healthcare.
If you’re a CNS, this is a great time to highlight and celebrate both your own achievements and those of your fellow CNSs. If you’re not yet familiar with the CNS role or are contemplating a career as a CNS, now is a perfect time to explore what this fulfilling position has to offer.
History of CNS Week
NACNS established National CNS Recognition Week (CNS week) in 2009 to commemorate and celebrate the birth of Hildegard Peplau, born on September 1, 1909. Dr. Peplau was a prominent nursing theorist whose landmark book, Interpersonal Relations in Nursing, emphasized the nurse-client relationship as the foundation for nursing practice and today serves as the basis of the CNS role in health care.
