NACNS 2021 Fall Summit in New Orleans:

Just Announced: Opening Keynote by Susan B. Hassmiller, RN, PhD, FAAN, Senior Adviser for Nursing!

This two-day, engaging and collaborative conference features distinguished speakers, CE credits and the chance come together again, in person, in a safe and comfortable setting. Attendees will hear from some of the most respected voices in the policy and education fields, will collaborate during hands-on workshops, will reconnect with their peers through networking and will leave the conference with innovative tools and resources they can implement into their practice. This event is appropriate for all levels of practice and will focus on policy and education topics that affect all CNSs, like the new AACN Essentials, the Cares Act, telehealth, and more.

Refund/Cancellation Policy
Refund requests will be considered on an individual basis and must be submitted via email to meetings@nacns.org. In the case of cancellation, NACNS will return all registration fees but cannot be responsible for other registrant expenses, including but not limited to, reimbursement of airline or other transportation fares, hotel or rental charges, deposits, or penalties.

Health and Safety Guidelines 
NACNS will be following all CDC guidelines and local regulations in place at the time of the event in regards to social distancing, meeting space coordination, food service, attendee screening, PPE and conduct. By registering for this event, you agree to follow the event protocol. You may also be asked to sign a waiver upon arrival to the event.

Opening Keynote: Susan B. Hassmiller, RN, PhD, FAAN

Senior Adviser for Nursing

Susan Hassmiller is currently serving as the Senior Scholar-In-Residence and Senior Adviser to the President on Nursing at the National Academy of Medicine from January 2019 through August 2021. In this role, she is serving as a key member of the leadership team for the Future of Nursing 2030 report. She is also the Robert Wood Johnson Foundation Senior Adviser for Nursing, and in partnership with AARP, Hassmiller also directs the Foundation’s Future of Nursing: Campaign for Action. This 50-state and District of Columbia effort strives to implement the recommendations of the Institute of Medicine’s report on the Future of Nursing: Leading Change, Advancing Health and will additionally seek to build a Culture of Health. Hassmiller served as the report’s study director.

Hassmiller’s work has included service in public health settings at the local, state and national levels, including HRSA.  She taught community health nursing at the University of Nebraska and George Mason University in Virginia.

Hassmiller is a member of the Institute of Medicine, now the National Academy of Sciences, a fellow in the American Academy of Nursing and sits on other advisory committees and boards, including the Hackensack Meridian Health System, UnitedHealth, Carrier Clinic and the American Red Cross. She is the recipient of many awards and three honorary doctorates, but most notably the Florence Nightingale Medal, the highest international honor given to a nurse by the International Committee of the Red Cross.
