The Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute (CNSI) promotes the scientific mission of NACNS by providing grant funding opportunities.

CNSI Brenda Lyon Data Driven Grant: Quality Improvement, Evidence-based Practice, Research, Outcomes, Program Evaluation

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute (CNSI) is pleased to announce that applications are being accepted for funding data driven projects (<$1,500).

Applications are open to NACNS members serving as facilitators, mentor, or leaders on development and/or implementation of data driven projects that contribute to nursing knowledge that improves quality of care. We encourage all participants to disseminate their results at the annual CNS conference and publication in Clinical Nurse Specialist-The Journal for Advanced Nursing Practice.

All documents need to be submitted by September 15th, 11:59 pm EST.

Funded Grants

The Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute would like to congratulate our NACNS members in receipt of research grant funding from monies provided through a charitable donation by Brenda Lyons:

  • Mary Pat Johnston, MS, RN, AOCN, Clinical Nurse Specialist, Oncology, at the University of Wisconsin Cancer Center at ProHealth for her research study titled ‘Cancer Survivor Empowerment through Patient-Reported Outcomes.’
  • Morgan Yordy, DNP, ACNS-BC, RN-BC at Auburn University School of Nursing for her research study titled ‘Improving Health Outcomes by Incorporating Animal Assisted Therapy in the K-12 School Setting.’
  • Mary Fran Tracy, PhD, RN, APRN, CNS, FCNS, FAAN at the Regents of the University of Minnesota, School of Nursing for her research study titled ‘The Emotional, Mental Health, and Physical Symptom Experience of Patients Hospitalized with COVID-19: Long-Term Recovery.’
  • Elizabeth Savage, MSN, RN, ACNS-BC, CWON at New York University Langone Health for her research titled ‘Early Identification of Skin Injuries in Patients with Dark Skin tone.’

 

The Katie Brush Critical Care CNS Scholarship

The Katie Brush Critical Care CNS Scholarship will award up to $2,000 to Critical Care CNS students and is awarded by the National Association of Critical Care Nurses in conjunction with the Clinical Nurse Specialist Institute.

Travel Grants

CNSI is now accepting applications for NACNS members who present a podium or poster presentation that helps to advocate and showcase the Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) role and highlights outcomes at conferences whose audience is primarily nurse leaders. Some examples of those leadership conferences include: AONL, Magnet/Pathway to Excellence, American Hospital Association, American Association of College of Nurses, etc.

Travel grants will include up to $750 to NACNS members that have presented a podium or poster presentation at local, regional, or national conferences within the previous 6 months.

Applications will be accepted twice a year, January 15 and June 15.
