VCU Health System Nurse Elected to Board of Leading National Nursing Association

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) today announced that Linda Thurby-Hay, DNP, RN, ACNS-BC, BC-ADM, CDE, Adult Health Clinical Nurse Specialist at the Virginia Commonwealth University Health System in Richmond, Va., has been elected to serve on the 2016-2017 NACNS Board of Directors. Prior to joining the Board, she served on the NACNS 2015 National Conference Planning Committee. Thurby-Hay has been a member of NACNS since 2008.

Thurby-Hay is President of the Virginia Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists, and a member the American Nurses Association, the American Association of Diabetes Educators, the American Diabetes Association, and Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing.

“It’s a great honor to be elected to the NACNS Board of Directors,” said Thurby-Hay. “I look forward to helping advance the mission and goals of this important association, and support other clinical nurse specialists who are working to ensure their patients receive the highest quality, evidence-based care.”

“We are so happy to have Linda join our Board of Directors,” said NACNS Executive Director Melinda Mercer Ray, MSN, RN. “We look forward to her leadership and guidance as we continue to build and strengthen this association, advance the vital role of the clinical nurse specialist and improve health care.”

Thurby-Hay earned her Doctor of Nursing Practice degree (DNP) from Rush University in Chicago. She has a MS from Virginia Commonwealth University, a BSN from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh and her nursing diploma from Uniontown Hospital School of Nursing in Uniontown, Pa.
