Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Nurse Elected to Board of Leading National Nursing Association

The National Association of Clinical Nurse Specialists (NACNS) today announced that Linda Hoke, PhD, RN, CCNS, AGCNS-BC, CCRN, WCC, Clinical Nurse Specialist (CNS) in the Cardiac Intermediate Care Unit at the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in Philadelphia, has been elected to serve on the 2016-2017 NACNS Board of Directors. Hoke has been a member of NACNS since 2010. She has served as a content reviewer for NACNS’ journal, Clinical Nurse Specialist, since 2013 and was the 2016 NACNS Conference Chair.

“It’s a wonderful opportunity to serve on the NACNS Board of Directors,” said Hoke. “I’m excited to be a part of the association’s leadership and I look forward to advancing NACNS and the clinical nurse specialist role to help improve the health care of our patients and our nation.”

Hoke is the CNS representative to the American Nurses Credentialing Center for Content, and a member of the American Association of Critical-Care Nurses, and Sigma Theta Tau International, the Honor Society of Nursing.

She was awarded Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania Quality and Safety Award in 2014, 2013, and 2007; the NACNS CNS Preceptor of the Year Award in 2010; a Penn Nursing Alumni Award in 2009, and the Nursing Excellence Award from the Hospital of the University of Pennsylvania in 1990.

“We are delighted that Linda is joining our Board of Directors,” said NACNS Executive Director Melinda Mercer Ray, MSN, RN. “We look forward to her leadership and guidance as we continue to build and strengthen this association, advance the vital role of the clinical nurse specialist and improve health care.”

Hoke earned her PhD in Education Psychology from Temple University, her MSN from the University of Pennsylvania, and her BSN from Widener University in Chester, Pa.
